DANDY MAN, OH

Dandy man, oh
Dandy man, oh
Dandy man,
Look-oh day are break, oh

Dandy man, oh
Dandy man, oh
Dandy man,
Look-oh day are break, oh

Day are break, oh
Cock a-crow, oh
O'Neil a-go home
Wha' me go do, oh?

Day are break, oh
Cock a-crow, oh
O'Neil a-go home
Wha' me go do, oh?

During a Reel Dance (Trinidad or Tobago), ancestral spirits
are summoned from Africa with special songs and drumming. At
day-break the ancestors must leave the dance. This song is
a lament at the departure of one of the spirits, O'Neil, here
addressed by the affectionate "dandy man." I have this from
a zox of a book at the Berkeley main library; don't remember
the title. JN
