Referring to all the Norse People as, "Vikings" is like referring to all Sailors as "Pirates". There is nothing romantic or colorful or sweet about Vikings and/or Pirates. I'm a sailor and I'm quite put out when people call me a pirate. Pirates and vikings were (and are) ruthless, sadistic, killers and rapists (both sexes) The woreds Viking and Pirate are both participles. That is they can be used as either a verb or a noun.
