I like 50 as well as any age I've been, but I don't recognise myself in Gern's description - most of my teachers and both of my parents are in a place where it's unlikely they'll be yelling at me, hearing is OK, wouldn't touch anti-depressants, wardrobe perhaps a bit outdated but a new door would make it look just fine. Surely there's no such thing as outdated listening tastes in folk - it's traditional. I'm convinced running is bad for you, but I like kayaking - I can watch it on the river without having to stir too far from home. I find facing the calendar doesn't present any great hazard as long as I don't do it when driving, then it's safer if I keep my eyes on the road.
