Bob, just remember that GOOD leaders are often insensitive bastards. Apparently the bands of Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Lawrence Welk and Tommy Dorsey (not to mention Guy Lombardo (!!)) were all very wary of incuring their leader's wrath......but they were all successful organizations that went on for years. Fletcher Henderson, Bunny Berrigan and Rick Fielding wre all enthusiastic but hated to discipline band members.......so consequently had high turnovers and (in my case) ended up playing solo most of the time. I'd have made an AWFUL ship's Captain! Sometimes I dream about reaching the Pearly Gates and hearing St Peter say: Welcome Rick, yer just in time for the song circle........we're all just here to have FUN! Guess I'm just paranoid!
