By the way the Irish surrounding the Widow of Mayo seem to have come up with the steam engine way before we Cornish did. The song has the afore-mentioned widow seeing her daughter off at a train station before the building of the railway. Both of these songs -- "Widow of and Glens of Sweet -- Mayo - play strange and wonderful games with Time. Joy |
