Seeing the early reference to The Grapes of Wrath, I'm reminded of the way Ramblin' Jack used to introduce Tom Joad. (He may still do it the same way - I haven't had a chance to see him for years.)

He'd say he was going to sing a song he learned from Woody, which Woody wrote after seeing a movie with Henry Fonda which was based on a novel written by John Steinbeck, which was baswed on the life of Woody Guthrie.
