Malcolm, Thanks for your response re: Sovay and Tanner. I knew others had sung it, of course. But it was one of those occasions where I'd heard a song many times, then heard Phil Tanner's version and was blown away by the singing. So to me, it's not just the song but Tanner's performance that is such a classic. I've added my 2 cents worth on the Recruited Collier over on the other thread. Some stuff I don't believe has been said on Mudcat before.
