You do realise, don't you, that just as "Ambridge" is a metaphor for Merrie England so the dreadful Siobhan is a metaphor for the IRA and suchlike, determined to wreak havoc and cause mayhem in this rural paradise? The unspeakable Elizabeth represents those wets who are unable or unwilling to stand up to these appalling outsiders.
