A-(G)way ye gay (D)landscapes, ye (Em)garden of (G)roses!

Re-(G)store me the (D)rocks, where the (Em)snowflake re-(G)poses,
Though (C)still they are (G)sacred to (D)freedom and (G)love.
Yet, Cale-(Em)donia, be-(C)loved are thy (G)mountains,
round their white (Em)summits though (C)elements (D)war;(D7)
Though (G)cataracts (Em)foam `stead of (C)smooth-flowing (D)fountains,
I (G)sigh for the (Em)valley of (D)dark Loch na (G)Garr.

Ah! (G)there my young (D)footsteps in (Em)infancy (G)wander`d,
my (C)cap was the (G)bonnet, my (Am)cloak was the (D)plaid.(D7)
On (G)chieftains long(D)perished my (Em)memory (G)ponder`d,
as (C)daily I (G)strode through the (D)pine-cover`d (G)glade.
I sought not my (Em)home till the (C)day`s dying (G)glory,
gave place to the (Em)rays of the (C)bright polar (D)star,(D7)
for (G)fancy was (Em)cheer`d by trad-(C)itional (D)story,
dis-(G)clos`d by the (Em)natives of (D)dark Loch na (G)Garr.

(G)'Shades of the (D)dead! have I (Em)not heard your (G)voices,
(C)rise on the (G)night-rolling (Am)breath of the (D)gale?'(D7)
And (G)surely the (D)soul of the (Em)hero re-(G)joices,
and (C)rides on the (G)wind o`er his (D)own Highland (G)vale.
Round Loch na (Em)Garr, while the (C)stormy mist (G)gathers,
winter pre-(Em)sides in his (C)cold icy (D)car;(D7)
the (G)clouds there en-(Em)circle the (C)forms of my (D)fathers,
they (G)dwell in the (Em)tempests of (D)dark Loch na (G)Garr.

(G)Years have roll'd (D)on, Loch na (Em)Garr, since I (G)left you,
(C)Years must e-(G)lapse ere I (Am)tread you a-(D)gain:(D7)
(G)Nature of (D)verdure and (Em)flow'rs has be-(G)reft you,
Yet (C)still are you (G)dearer than (D)Albion's (G)plain.
England! thy (Em)beauties are (C)tame and do-(G)mestic
To one who has (Em)roved o'er the (C)mountains a-(D)far:(D7)
