Guy Davis delivered up Traditional and Original Acoustic Blues in concert in Falls Church,Va last night, and folks it was the real deal. Guy displayed chops that spanned the breadth of acoustic blues on the guitar, slide, Piedmont, and Ragtime, his six and twelve string Gibsons layed it all down. Stand outs included Blind Willie McTell's for "Georgia Rag" and Step it up and Go, by Blind Boy Fuller. His own songs from his new CD,Chocolate to the Bone where highlights as well. Among them were Tell Me Where the Road Is and Shortening Bread. His Old Time Banjo tune caught the audience by surprise, and were equally fine. His Joppa Town stories held the audience enthralled. Guy's vocals are strong and fine, and the gruff slurr that accompanies his blues is just right. Susette and I had a chance to play a few old time and blues tunes with him since he stayed over with us and it was a real treat. All in All, go see him, buy his CDs, he's the real deal. http://www.guydavis.com/ Chance
