I've always regarded fascism as thwarted imperialism - a market economy turning in on itself. As an aside ,a german girlfriend once told me that part of Hitler's appeal was his dashing good looks .Apparently German women went mad about him .I found this very hard to believe because in England we always considered him to be the very essence of ugliness.
