Now, this is a really American thread ... Canadian soldiers don't count cadence, which our army scornfully calls "jodying"; they sing loudly and far from any known key. Repertoire ranges from venerable traditional songs to silly novelty numbers from the 1940s. I'll never forget doubling along frozen roads gasping "The Red Red Robin Goes Bob, Bob Bobbin' Along" in the company of 29 fellow sufferers of basic training ...
