O.K., I know this site is for folk songs but I know many of you would enjoy the song, The Eagle, by Hap Palmer and Martha Chaney. This is a wonderful song basically about freedom. I have used it in our outdoor ed program and this year when the elementary school choirs (3 of them) combined for the World Largest Concert in celebration of Music In the Schools Month (March) we choose to sing this song and I got to direct it. What an indescribable feeling to hear 94 studnets united, what power. As a lot of you know I am retiring after being in the teaching field since '65, mostly teaching elementary music. Anyway, at the end of the song one of the other teachers took the mic from me, I was the MC for the evening, and the music teachers presented me with 19 beautiful roses, one for each year I have been at Moffat County and in keeping with the mood of the song, "set me free" to fly away. The audiance stood and the choirs cheered. Boy did the tears roll. I am so excited to turn this page in my life but will miss my time with the students. Thanks for letting me share this with you, it's just too special not to. bet
