Well what JB should have done was to post in the original thread saying that they hadn't found the right song. I assume that you are the same as the John Barden who started that thread. When someone asks a question it is always nice if they keep track of the thread, and respond to it so that people can tell if they have found the right answer, and that you are still interested. Anyway here it is:

DAWNING OF THE DAY
(lyrics: Eddie Furey / tune: traditional)

When the swallows homeward fly, when the roses fall and die,
While in your bed you lie, till the dawning of the day.

For the fairest and the best is she, nearest to my throne should be,
It's her that fills my heart with glee all on the summer's day.
La la la la la la la.

For a muddy drop of manly blood like surging seas outweighs the flood,
Our world uncertain comes and goes; poor lovers he rooted stays.

When November's cloudy month appears, it fills each angry night with tears,
While Autumn leaves and flowers are dead, sadly dropping to the ground.
La la la la la la la.

Repeat 1st verse.
