Reading Little Hawk's comments about not understanding how anyone can go to the Brill Building like it was an office job and turn out songs on a 9-5 basis; well, it worked for Carole King, but not, to my ears at least, for Neil Sedaka. It brings to mind a comment by Randy Newman when asked how he wrote his songs. He said that he hired an office in downtown LA and went there at set hours. He needed that self-imposed discipline in order to write. Anyway Gargoyle, thanks for that article. It was excellent. Well done on letting us see it.
