I always recommend the Beatles & Dylan as a standard disclaimer.
But for a young performer, check out Nellie McKay.
She's like 19, and hip. She sings, writes and performes on multiple instruments on hr debut double CD. Lots of styles & influences rolled into her own thing. Reasonably mature, very listenable. I recommend her with confidence for any aspiring young female artist looking to hear something newly released.
