Songwriting workshop series.
1, 2, 15, 29 MAY 2004 and 5, 6 JUNE 2004

Memorial Hall, Lairgate, Beverley

SING FOR YOUR LIFE is part of a major community-based creative music-making project called 'Coming of Age', celebrating 21 years of
Beverley & East Riding Folk Festival.

The first weekend features SID GRIFFIN - Sunday 2nd May

Founder member of the Long Riders and The Coal Porters. Kentucky born Sid Griffin is one of the leading authorities on American traditional music.

A number of major artists, including Billy Bragg, have covered his songs which incorporate elements of country ,folk, bluegrass and rock.

In 2002 he was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the Premio Ciampi Songwriters Conference in Italy.

Other artists to be featured will be Alistair Hulett - Saturday 15th May
                                                       Karine Polwart – Saturday 5th June

Artistic leader for the workshop series - acclaimed songwriter Gary Miller (founder of Whisky Priests)

£10 for one workshop – concessions £5
£50 for workshop series (excluding meals & accommodation)
