Deda Song Challenge! Part 94 (78* d) RE: SONG CHALLENGE! Part 94 15 May 04

I would have entered this sooner but I've been off line a lot. I am sorry about the loss of Speckles, and have to start by saying that I really do hope that Nick and Kathy have weathered this loss and abuse and are healing from both the insults and the injuries.

To the tune of Clementine.

CHORUS (after every verse): Oh my darling, oh my darling,
oh my darling Speckles Hen,
You are lost and gone forever,
And I miss my Speckles Hen.

She was sitting by the paper
at the grocery store one day,
Nick came by and she was friendly,
just a homeless chicken stray.

He took her home, and made her comfy,
Brought her food and company,
Nick and Kathy and their Speckles
Made a happy family.

She was safe, and she was happy,
Any fool could plainly see,
But the Sheriff and his side-kick,
Had to stir up some misery.

Tripp told lies, he made up charges,
With the help of DA Clay
Nick was hauled off in his skivvies
and Speckles, too, was dragged away.

Folks at Ray's, they liked old Speckles,
She was cute, they used to say-
Said the same of hens before her,
None of them alive today.

Some drunk kid was out carousing
The night that Speckles met her fate.
He wrung her neck and then he left her
At Ray's Market, by the gate.

If a hen can go to heaven
That's where Speckles now must be.
Free from Abbey, and the Sheriff,
And that stupid deputy!
