El Ted, I don't know where you live and the taxation/medical costs ratio there. But I can tell you that in Canada, the collective federal and provincial taxes on tobacco products do not begin to cover the increased load that smoking imposes on the universal health care system. Statistically, you will probably die young. However, unless you go immediately from a heart attack or stroke, which is very possible, the costs of treating you for the heart, lung or other smoking-caused diseases you contract will be extremely expensive.
