GUEST,Learaí na Láibe Lyr Req: The 'Langer' Song (Riordan?) (8) RE: Lyr Req: The 'Langer' Song (Riordan?) 02 Jul 04

The Irish language verse given above is a bit garbled. Here's a more correct version. Might still have some mistakes though. It's based on
Jim Dixon's version in a previous thread but with a few spelling alterations.

Féach an pleidhce amach romhainn, [Look at the messer in front of us,]
ag bladairt trína thóin. [talking through his ass,]
Níl Gaolainn ag éinne, [Nobody can speak Irish,]
dár leis, ach é féin. [in his opinion, but himself.]
Tá aige foghraíocht sár-bhinn, [He's got perfect pronunciation,]
's gramadach fíor-chruinn. [and perfectly accurate grammar.]
I gCorcaigh, gan dabht, 'sé an langer! [In Cork, without a doubt, he's a langer.]
An langer! An langer!
I gCorcaigh, gan dabht, 'sé an langer!

It's about a pompous Irish speaker who considers his command of the language superior to others.
