The original Middleton Colliery line was 4'0", but it had a "toothed wheel" to overcome the problems that "Blucher" encountered. The Middleton, long since standard gauge, is the world's oldest working steam railway.... was there today painting the cylinder covers for a loco called Percy... yes that one.... a 'orrible shade of green!
