I'd have to say I most miss the beer, breads, sausages/meats, chocolate, quality craftsmanship (referring more to the 'throw away' mentality here in the states), educational level/values of the general public (present company excluded). To compensate I take the microbrews, buy bread and meat at gourmet food stores, or beg my sister for a care package from Germany on occasion. Regarding the craftsmanship of goods I find that it pays to spend a little more on local crafters than on store bought, if I can afford it. Educational level wise, I find that mudcatters and the folk community compensate exceedingly well for the other experiences I've had with ignorance in this country. I miss the traditions from home, but am quite enjoying the variety of cultures here. But then again, I'd miss a lot of the things I enjoy here, if I were to move back.
