Yeah, he rules, but I find this particular CD disappointing. I had great expectations from what I read in the papers, but when I finally got my hands on the CD I felt tricked. Maybe it's my own fault, not understanding what it takes to make a revolution in the US, but the lyrics on "The Revolution Starts.. Now" didn't start anything for me. I am sorry. Steve Earle has written the most wonderful, thoughtful and sophisticated material over a decade, but I didn't fancy this last one. That's the way it is, some like it and some not. I wonder what makes the difference? Steve Earle has been one of my favourites for years, but I was not stunned by his last record. Anyway; I hope those who love this record will continue to love it and I hope SE will provide us all with his good music in the years to come.
