That editorial misses a central truth, IMO. It is directed only at immigrants -- what about those native-born Americans who disagree with "In God we Trust" and "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance?

I agree with the editorial, mainly, and think it applies in Canada as well -- those who choose new lives in this country should adapt to the mores and laws of this country. However, both immigrants and progress bring change, and a country cannot be hidebound in its perspectives.

Secularity is on the rise throughout the world, and if more and more people want God removed from public life, that is the direction the culture is taking. Denying that is denying reality.
