I was not aware of Mischief Night in Devon as a child in the 50's(under the name "Mischief Night", that is: bad behaviour at that time was pretty standard I think). I moved to north Lancashire in the mid 60's and the custom was thriving. Taking the backyard gates off along our terrace and hanging them in the wrong gateways. Kicking exhausts off cars,all sorts of stuff the kids would get up to.
