My $0.02, fwiw: I've written songs that I physically cannot perform (e.g., I don't have the range/breath control/vocal ability). I've written songs that are too emotionally raw for me to perform anywhere but in the privacy of my shower. I've written songs that other singers with more skill simply perform better. I'd much rather hear someone else do a good job with my material than hear me botch it. Only you know what you want the song to convey. Whatever performance accomplishes that is the one you want. V
