One problem I have with that line, and indeed the whole song, is that it reinforces the widely-held notion that starvation in Africa is the result of natural disasters. In most cases it isn't. In Africa, starvation is a weapon of mass destruction, used by evil men for their own political ends. Of course we should contribute to famine relief, but let's not kid ourselves about the causes of the famine.
