I'm not going to be popular about this one, but it really got me going GRRRRRRR

There was an interview with some guy who had gone over to Norway to help cut down the traditional yearly Norwegian Pine the citizens of Norway give to the citizens of the UK as thanks for their help during WW2.

Ok, the sentiments are nice, granted, but this guy was holding up a piece of the tree which they had given him as a souvenir and saying that it showed the tree was ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY YEARS OLD!

He said this gleefully, and all I could think was, "What's so wonderful about being one of the people responsible for killing this beautiful tree so people can admire it for a month and then toss it???!!"

I just hate the idea that we can't leave these great giants alone. Aren't there enough "tree farms" out there to satisfy the Christmas Tree-Lust of the Ho ho ho'ers in this country??
