Elixir strings are rumored to be D'Addario with the Goretex coating. Larry Pattis, who has some connection with the company, averted his gaze and refused to comment. They sound like D'Addario after an hour of playing time, and keep that sound longer than a similar set of D'Addario's. Flatpicking Magazine did a comprehensive comparison / review last year . I just stick with the D'Addario J17's.
