To: Christina, Jan 30. It is nice, warm, and fuzzy to think that this was not a children's song. Politically correct in every way! BUT, a hundred or more years ago, death was more real to every living person, young or old. There were no antibiotics, hospitals were a mess and usually only a place to go to die. Most children did not live to the age of majority. Also, Do you remember the line from the child's prayer,Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, - "IF I SHOULD DIE BEFORE I WAKE"? This line has been changed recently.
