As far as I know, which isn´t much, the previous comments about accoustic basses needing to be plugged in to be heard, is pretty much true. To me the only appeal of having an accoustic bass is that when my friends decided to go to the beach or woods with their guitars for a jam, I could join in.

Sadly, I´d be there listening to them and thinking about what I would be playing along with them if I could carry my 100 watt amp to the middle of nowhere and plug it into a tree!

My solution was to buy a small battery powered amp (pignose Hog 20). Now it has it´s limitations, but for playing alongside accoustic guitars, it´s enough. Must Importantly for me, I´m mobile (The amp in a rucksack on my back and my bass over my shoulder).

I´m currently backpacking around south America with it and dispite being a bit heavy it´s managable.
