ANd it's really hard explaining how you do it to someone who doesn't. A fiddler in my band wants to learn how to play harmony and asked me how I know which notes to pick - I couldn't tell him.

The other thing I've noticed is that I tend to SEE harmonies everywhere. In a field of daffodils, for example, instead of seeing a mass of yellow, I see the flecks of white, the contrast of the leaves, etc. I've often thought that when I die and become part of the greater universe, I'll find a way to be part of the harmony rather than the melody.
