Once we were on a long submarine patrol (late 1970's) and we found that our chefs had loaded rabbit instead of chicken!

So we were tempted with Rabbit Maryland, Rabbit Fricasee, Curried Rabbit, Roasted Rabbit with stuffing (no don't ask who stuffed the rabbit), Rabbit Stew, on and on went the alternative rabbit recipes, and more jaded our tastes became.

One of the chefs put up a sign over the servery.

'Rabbit in the hole; As served on Watership Down'

'You've read the book, you've seen the film, you have the T-Shirt, now eat the cast!'
