PoohBear Review: Celtic Women on PBS (77* d) RE: Review: Celtic Women on PBS 23 May 05

I saw portions of this. I was underwhelmed by the camera work and the sound mix. I did enjoy most of the vocal production. Those ladies all have, at the very least, pleasant voices and seem to know a bit about vocal production - not just how to vocalize as loudly as possible and think they're singing (can you tell what I think of most pop 'stars'?) I agree that it seemed over produced, and if you're looking for 'traditional' performances this wasn't it. But the positive of this type of programming is introducing people to a music form they might not otherwise have discovered. And being introduced to something new, in a format/sound somewhat similar to what one is used to hearing will often times lead one to explore further and be more willing to listen to more and different sounds. Just my 2 cents. . .
Cheers
