The reference to 'gingerlady' in that song could be as you have suggested , Le Scaramouche. As I said, I have no familiarity with that singer or that song. Still, it may be helpful for folks to know about the 'Ginger', 'Ginger Blue', and other skin color references in African American and minstrel folk songs....
