To: Uncle_DaveO: according to the "Online Etymology Dictionary", the word "porringer" was influenced by "porridge", but its "ancestor" is French ("potager").

To: Q, Peace, Malcolm Douglas: Thank you for the useful additional explanations.

To: McGrath of Harlow: thank you for the hint, the tune could be the same as the one used for "Come lanlord fill the flowing bowl". I've taken it into account. HJust have a look at:
