GUEST,Geoff Lawes Lyr Add: Whitby Week Song (Greenhaus) (6) RE: Lyr Add: Whitby Week Song (Greenhaus) 09 Aug 05

Thanks for the refresh Susan, we have met in the flesh, Dick you and I had conversations over breakfast at the festival campsite a few years ago-but not this year I fear, as I see from other threads that you are going posh this year.Anyway back to the point I saw Dick`s post on his Whitby song while waiting for my washing to finish in the machine at my hotel in Kyoto. I remember the " Rise Again"chorus tune well enough but confess my recall of the main verse tune is a bit vague nevertheless I`ve done my best with the scan problem that this gave me and here is a contribution written on the bullet train to Yokohama.

Some folk betray their priciples for money or for fame,
For some it`s lust for glory(and) for other`s love`s to blame,
But these were not my weaknesses, none of these for me the deal,
No!Ballad singing`s my Achilles heal.
Lord Bateman,Barbary Ellen and The False Knight On The Road,
I can`t resist a gracenote or a Myxolydian mode,
D`you think without Child ballads I`d turn down a Whitby pub,
For afternoon`s inside the Tory Club.

I`m just off to Nikko on another bullet train and I don`t think they will be on-line in the traditional ryokan hotel where we are going to stay so I will see you later at Whitby, Susan and Dick (yes, where else in the world would any sane person be THAT week)
Oh yes, and Susan I know it is a losing battle but TRY to keep Dick calm between now and then because I can tell from his recent postings that he is already too over-excited for his own good.
