Thank you Robin MATE. We had a similar problem at work whereby we were told to address ladies as "women". The warped idea being that by saying ladies to one group implied that other groups were not ladies. The idea came from a gay member of our legal team. Anyway, I thought the expression "g'day mate" was enshrined in Oz law.
