Blimey that sounds aweful, hope both your mum and dad are ok, They are two of the loveliest people I know adn we hope to be over at teh Portaferry Gathering next year...there will be one ....won't there!!

After the surgery he won't know whats going on for a couple of days and the morphine is pretty good stuff!! Newspapers, the radio, ipod, minidisc...anything to take his mind off it. Ask for a wheel chair so he can get out and about even if it's to the hospital entrance. Getting out of the bed for 10 minutes makes a world of difference! Take him a pair of slippers...if only for his good foot!
