still about eight hours to go- but watched the sydney harbour celebrations on tv utterly fantastic, its just started to get dark here in yorkshire and in the dim distant I can see some early fireworks being let off .weather is warmish and not raining thank goodness as there are a few street parties due to start anytime now. I feel a bit deflated by it all- i,m usually too much of an old cynic to pay any attention to events like this, but the universality of it is awesome. We may not all have seen Liveaid, we may not all have seen charles and di get married, but every single one off us will pass into another century. Have a great New Year everyone.
