I couldn't find any sessions in Kenmare when I was there, but there were paid bands with amplification, mostly quite good. I saw a session advertised in Castletown Bere on the Beara peninsula but I was just passing through and couldn't stay to find out what it was like. There used to be a session in the bar of the camping site at Glengarriff (not sure of the name - maybe Dooley's). The proprietor of the site played the pipes. I think the bar is open to non-residents.

One thing to bear in mind is that often the night is ended by playing the National Anthem, so if you can't recognise it don't sit at the front of the audience or you may find that you are the only ones sitting down when everyone else has stood up!
