Stan Borson did a version of AOC. But during the Alaska gold rush, if you were broke, you could get along by digging clams. You could make a buck a day if you worked at it. Plus you could always eat them. But you could get a dollar for a gallon (or was it 5?) of shucked clams or oysters. Even today you can just about eat your way around the Puget Sound, off of the oysters clinging to the rocks, and clams on the beach. -Fadac
