I'm sure Leadbelly never recorded Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos but he did record several versions of Old Hannah and Shorty George. Sandy is right to refer you to the wonderful 1993 version by Ernest Williams (the group also includes James 'Iron Head' Baker)who has a magnificent voice. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything else about him; any information anyone please? Janine Sandy: I like your word 'fakelore'. If it isn't in the OED, it should be! There's certainly none on the records you produce!
