That 10 minute neck reset was developed for 1960s and 70s era Yamaha guitars. (It takes me lots longer than 10 minutes!) While it's a strange way to go for a neck reset, it's the only way I've ever found to bring some of those old Yamahas back to playable. Works great. Dowels aren't needed and the screw that holds it all together while the epoxy dries holds the strap button in place. I've done only 10 or so of these and would much rather have a better instrument to do a real neck reset on. But, when nothing else will work, this procedure does.
