I'm familiar with the version of The Alabama that is in the DT, ie Confederate raider sunk by the Kearsarge. However, some years back, John Townley I believe, sang a version at Mystic Seaport describing an earlier battle in her carrier with her being victorious obviously with a different adversary. Anyone care to take a stab at this? Is it recorded any where? In print? Does anyone know how to contact John Townley?
