I had a girl in the Kindergarten class I taught named Asiha. Pronounced as the continent Asia. I just figured her mother liked the sound of it, but didn't know how to spell. My mother in law, from Kentucky, is named Ventla - Pronounced like Ventlie. She insists that's the way it's spelled and the way it's pronounced. One is not a nickname for the other. I've never heard of this name before.
