Tooling down the highway with Hank Williams blasting away when I noticed a couple of things: On "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It", there's a 'squeeze'-style (à la Lester Flatt) flattop guitar solo -- I assume this was Hank himself. Or did he play with a flat pick? Then, on "Lost Highway", there is clearly a mandolin behind the 3rd or 4th verse. Since mandolin was uncool by the time MGM started mucking with Hank's masters, I assume it was on the original session. Who was it? Doesn't sound like Monroe's style -- or like an F-5 for that matter. Anybody know about these things?
