Just doing my bit to flag up the session! Splott Man, I was quoting Pete Meazey, the writer who used to play with Mabsant - he owned a Welsh bookshop called Siop y Triban, in the arcade at the bottom of Cardiff High Street, and he published a joint pamphlet of raucous political ballads, called Broadsides, with Meic Stephens and Denis O'Neill. Mabsant did a tour of Brittany, and Pete never came back - he vowed to become a Breton, or something like that. I last heard of him when he was living in Pleyber-Christ, just to the south of Morlaix. Among Pete's verses were: Nothing could be finer than to live in Rhiwbina 'Tis one step up the ladder before moving to Radyr 'ark, 'ark, the lark in Victoria Park And the moon, nature's lantern Aglow over Canton I'd always assumed they were Pete's verses, but WHO did write them? Like other 60s and 70s stuff, they got lost in the mists of Cardiff folklore - but it would interesting to place a name. By the way, Pete's ex-wife, Nell, took the photograph which was to grace Calennig's debut album, in her living room!
