No specific tune jumps to mine although I suppose a lot of Double 8-6-8-6 hymn tunes suit it. From the words (Lay down) I would have thought that it's adapted from the Irish Slane, much discussed in Mudcat. ie. Lay down, o weary one, lay down your head upon my breast. Let me know if you have any further tune clues... sian
