Just imagine yourself as Home Secretary and think up all the changes you could make to almost any existing laws just because you felt like it – all without the fuss of debates and votes in Parliament. Even better, you could create a few new laws that might come in handy as well. Any suggestions? And apparently you could even make them retrospective. Does that mean we could reverse the anti-singing elements of the PEL? And include a clause that says the Government will pay back-dated compensation to pub landlords for lost takings? What else ought to go in? This Bill is appalling. We obviously need as many people as possible to respond, and there doesn't seem to be much time left now before the Bill passes its final stage into law.
